In 2025, Perm was awarded the title of the Youth Capital of Russia. The qualifying round of “CARDO” has become one of the highlight events in the city’s youth programme. Perm is one of the 30 regions across Russia hosting stages of this international initiative. Now in its eighth season, the competition brings together tens of thousands of young people from street culture communities, offering them the chance to showcase their talents and gain recognition at both national and international levels. In 2025, representatives from 89 Russian regions and 15 foreign countries are expected to take part in the competition.
In Perm, 10 finalists selected during the online stage took part in the graffiti category. More than 40 athletes competed in the kick scooter discipline. Winners in these categories received invitations to the Grand Final, which will take place from 20 to 24 August in Stavropol Krai.
The festival also featured local competitions in BMX freestyle, skateboarding and rollerblading. While these disciplines did not qualify for the Grand Finals, they formed an important part of the festival’s vibrant programme. More than 500 participants and spectators attended the event.
The qualifying round was organised by Perm City Administration, the national public organisation of street culture and sports “Streets of Russia”, and the Perm Krai Cycling Federation with the support of the Russia – Land of Opportunity presidential platform. The “CARDO” International Street Culture and Sports Competition is held as part of the Russia – Land of Opportunity federal project and the national project “Youth and Children”.
