More than 160 000 people attended Town Day celebrations
Perm resumes Town Day celebrations, said at the city department of culture and youth policy.
More than 1500 people took part in the carnival parade this year. Eight carnival “blocks” marched down the Lenin Street from Dzerzhinsky Square to the “White Nights” festival site, entertaining the audience.
The children festival at the Theatre-Theatre Square was attended by 80 000 kids and their parents. The festival had concert and interactive spaces: circus arena, puppet show and others. A small book fair in a book-crossing format was arranged at the festival. 290 anniversary cakes were raffled off to the audience.
Concert show “San-Remo in Perm” gathered more than 10 thousand people, despite the rain. The famous “Ricchi e Poveri”, Umberto Tozzi and other Italian pop stars performed at the concert. The Italian singer, leader of the “Los Locos”, Roberto Boribella, hosted the show.
The “White Nights” festival site was visited by more than 160 000 people on June 12, comparing to the last year’s 95 000.
Perm sister towns representatives visited the city on its 290th anniversary. Delegations arrived from Amnéville (France), Agrigento (Italy), Duisburg (Germany), Oxford (England), Louisville (USA) and Qingdao (China). Sister towns festival will take place in Perm in September 2013.
The Town Day celebrations were followed by 450-meters firework, visible from different locations in the center of the city. Festive events took places at all the city districts.
City department of public safety stated that all the events went quietly and public safety was provided thoroughly. Emergency services were not contacted during the day and no major incidents happened.
Town Day celebrations are not finished yet and there are some concerts, shows, non-profit organizations presentations and screenings ahead.
