Students from Perm gymnasium № 31 put on a play in English
Students of gymnasium №31 (37 Podlesnaya Street) can now not only learn English at the “Five o’Clock” language center, but also explore the world of culture and creativity. Producing plays at a school theatre club, children learn to become real actors.
The idea of this project has started up last year in November. School vice-principal Svetlana Salukova invited students to take part in plays, aimed not only to improve language skills, but also to reveal kids’ artistic abilities. Third grade students got up a play “Summer night dream” under the leadership of a British actor and director Alexander Morr. “Children appreciated the experience of immersion into the verbal environment. Classes on acting, dramatics and other secrets of performing arts were taught completely in English”, - said the language center director Tatyana Taraut.
New play in English “Captain Midas and the Golden Touch” opened up last week. “Britannia” language center teacher Fiona Jowston directed the play. The leading roles were played by the students of the 4th “v” grade. Rehearsals and readings took 25 hours.
