A girl from Perm teaches to sing “Kalinka”

The fourth international folk music festival “Ethno England 2018” took place in the UK in the vicinity of Oxford, the twin-city of Perm. The only representative from Russia was Tatyana Nikel, the singer of “The Yarmarka” group from Perm. 

“Ethno England 2018” festival brought together around 30 young musicians from all over the world, including India, Denmark, Iran, Poland, the Netherlands, Germany, the regions of the UK and other countries.  Russia was represented by a 22-year-old Tatyana Nikel, a singer from “The Yarmarka” folk group from Perm.  Tatyana’s program at the festival was full of events – workshops and performances combining unusual varieties of music, instruments, voices and dance movements of the participants. Together with the other musicians, Tatyana was involved in creating a joint concert program of the festival member-countries which received a warm welcome and high interest from residents of Oxford and Oxfordshire. The big festival choir program included the famous Russian song – “Kalinka”, composed by Ivan Larionov who actually came from Perm city. Tatyana Nikel, the resident of Perm, taught the foreign audience to sing this Russian song.
