The Perm City Archive has hosted  their German counterparts  this week, the visit including a guided tour of the archive and sharing experiences.

Perm City Archive received a delegation from the German city of Duisburg, which included  Andreas Pilger,  Duisburg Archive Director, Michael Kanther,  the Archive’s historian, and  Heike Maus, International links coordinator at Duisburg city administration.  The meeting  was joined by the representatives of Perm City administration.  .

The meeting was focused on discussing the prospects for developing the links,   as well as the international context for topical issues in archiving, sharing experiences and practices in this field.

Victor Novokrezshennykh, Director of Perm Archive, welcomed the delegation and took everybody  onto a video tour of the archive; he also announced the plans of  moving the archive to a new building.  The guests visited the exhibition  «Perm as seen by  Valery Reimers, 1950-1970s» and learned about the archive’s publications. In the archive’s depository  they had a chance of looking at some very rare documents as well as  personal documents of Evgeny Panfilov, the famous Perm choreographer and founder of the Panfilov’s Ballet Group.

Following the meeting, the agreement had been made to work out and sign in 2019  a document on  cooperation between the two archives,   featuring exchange of information, joint events and projects.

The links between the Perm Archive and its counterpart from the twinned city of Duisburg  started in  2017. Last year  projects included the International Conference and Workshop  «Archives without borders» and  the visual collection of documents “Perm and Duisburg: history of industrial cities in  1920s-1930s»,  produced jointly by Perm Regional State Archive, Perm City Archive and Duisburg Archive.
