Perm Marathon
Perm Marathon opened on September 5, 2020 with the first 630 runners – children aged up to 8- covering the one-kilometer distance along Lenin Street in the city center.
For safety considerations, the children started the race in groups with a 15-minute interval. At the same time, the square in front of the Theatre-Theatre featured the “Perm Strength” competition followed by the Perm Region Basketball Cup 3x3 Finals.
The main races took place on September 6, 2020 with overall 8,000 participants from 40 Russian regions. For safety reasons the participants of different races started at scheduled times. The first group numbering 2014 runners opened a 10.5 distance. Next was a wheelchair group of 25 participants covering 200 meters. The official opening ceremony was followed by the runners registered for 21.1 and 42.195 km races.
A special heart-shaped sticker to wear on a race was offered to the participants as a symbol of gratitude to doctors and medical staff for their work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The results of the Perm Marathon:
Men: Yuri Chechun ( Togliatti, Samara Region) - an absolute winner of the 42.195 km marathon distance (men) - 2 hrs 16 min 52 sec; Alexey Troshkin (Saransk) – 2nd , Oleg Grigoriev (Saratov) – 3rd.
Women: Louiza Dmitrieva (Gatchina, Leningrad Region) – 1st (2 hrs 28 min 35 sec); Alina Prokopieva (Chuvashia)– 2nd ; Olga Dedova (Perm) – 3rd.
This year the money prizes to the winners were allocated against the set time to cover the distance. Thus, the 500, 000 rbls prize will go to Louiza Dmitrieva, whose result was under the 2hrs 33 min set time for women. Yuri Chechun will get 375, 000 rbls as he failed to manage his distance in 2hrs 15 min set time for men to win the biggest prize of 500,000.
