The Forum is traditionally held on October 31 – International Day of Cities. It was organized in Volgograd – the city which together with British Coventry opened up the international twin-cities movement in1944.

Forum brings together the representatives of government, science, businesses and the public from the Russian Federation and its foreign partners and aims at strengthening cooperation, developing public links and promoting openness as the way to tackle modern global and regional challenges, providing peaceful and secure development of peoples and countries.

The event was held online   supported by Volgograd City Administration, The Union of Russian Cities, The Volga Regions Association, the International Chinese Association of Friendship and Sister Cities International.

Two presentations within the Forum workshops entitled “Local authorities’ activities to promote domestic tourism in the Volga and Mississippi areas under COVID-19 pandemic” were made by Perm: Tatiana Grigorieva, the head of International Relations Department and Yulia Anokhina, the head of Tourism Promotion Department of Perm City Administration.

Perm presented its new project – international virtual exhibition “City and Water”  https://www.permarchive.ru/water/en  and the report  covering water resources of Perm City which are its main competitive advantage for developing river transport and water tourism.  The limitations introduced in the context of COVID-19 pandemic led to the emergence of new tourist trends which Perm is actively promoting, such as industrial tourism  (Kamskaya Electric Power Station), gastronomic, educational and ecological tourism. In particular, the presentation covered “The Green Belt” project and minor river valleys tours.
