Aleksey Demkin, Mayor of Perm and Aleksey Orlov, Mayor of Yekaterinburg signed an Agreement on cooperation between the two cities.

It opened a new page in relationship between two Ural neighbour cities.  During a two-day visit of Perm delegation to Yekaterinburg a round table talk for Perm and Yekaterinburg businesses was organized  and new business links were established; discussions on burning issues of city life and management  (retail facilities, above-ground public transport, neighbourhood associations etc.) were held. Exchange of expertise proves to be an important part of cooperation between the cities. In 2023, both Perm and Yekaterinburg will celebrate 300-year jubilee. A wide programme of joint events during 2023 including both way travels of residents to take part in celebrations and creative activities is to be  developed.

– Perm and Yekaterinburg are two dynamically developing million-population cities.  In the context of today’s complicated geopolitical situation inter-municipal relations  are gaining an increasing importance, as these will not only promote successful economic and social development of both cities, but also build  friendly relationships between the cities communities.   The signed agreement will strengthen our links and, in the long run, bring the partnership to a higher level.  The cooperation directions include exchange of best practices and   development of strategic conceptions and programmes.  A great potential for joint   projects is seen in active development of hospitality industry and promoting tourist potential of the cities. These will be, of course, added by joint projects related to the coming jubilee anniversaries of Perm and Yekaterinburg,” – noted Mayor Demkin.
