Perm celebrated the anniversary of conferring the honorary title «City of Labor Valour»

The honorary title «City of Labor Valor» was awarded to Perm in the year of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

On July 2, a holiday was held in Perm in honor of awarding the title «City of Labor Valor». The festive events were attended by the Perm Region Governor Dmitry Makhonin, Acting Mayoor of Perm Olga Andrianova, heads and veterans of local enterprises, veterans of combat operations, other officials, residents of the city.

A solemn ceremony took place at the Three Centuries Square near the River Station, participants of which paid tribute to the countrymen - employees of the city’s enterprises. To note, the memorial includes as its part the two artillery barrels of the «Msta-B» howitzer personifying the contribution of the city enterprises to the defense of the country.

The stela, established in the year of the anniversary of Perm in memory of the invaluable contribution of the people working in the city’s industries to the defense power of the state was put on the guard of honour; the flag of the country was hoisted and the anthem of Russia was sounded. The participants laid flowers to the stela.

The Head of the Perm Region especially thanked «Motovilikha plants», an enterprise that is a real symbol of the region’s capital city, the Perm region as a whole and Russian weapon, for the initiative to create a monument. 

Chairman of the Veterans' Council of «ODK-Perm Motors» Rashid Dzunza recalled the selfless work of Perm factory workers.

– In the years of the Great Patriotic War, every fourth gun was produced for the front at the «Motovilikha plants», and every seventh engine – by the «Perm motors». The residents of Perm region both fought and worked in the rear, among them about three thousand boys aged 12-14 years, who worked for 14-16 hours meeting norm of 160-170%. In memory of each of them three years ago, we came up with the initiative of conferring the honorary title to Perm. And now, at the request of all veterans of defense enterprises and those who participated in those events during the war years, we propose to erect a Monument to the young worker in the park named after Mikhail Ivanovich Subbotin, timing this event to the anniversary of «Motovilikha plants». It will also be important for the education of young people and will serve as a memory of heroic years, he said.

The festive events continued on the city esplanade with a large concert program with the participation of the Perm Regional orchestra and other creative teams of the regional capital.
