During an official meeting held at the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, the Mayor of Perm, Eduard Sosnin, and the Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Yury Shalabayev, discussed the exchange of municipal best practices as part of an official visit by the Perm delegation. The discussions focused on the development of urban lighting systems and architectural illumination of key city landmarks, the improvement of public spaces with due consideration to cultural and geographical characteristics, as well as the advancement of social, sports, and cultural infrastructure.
Particular attention was given to Perm’s approaches to urban greening and landscaping. As both cities are major industrial centers, they are actively implementing mobile greening solutions and increasing the volume of planted greenery. Notably, Perm has developed unique practices in vertical greening.
“Perm is a dynamically developing city with advanced practices in urban greening, which are also a priority on our agenda, as well as in the development of transport infrastructure, including public transport stops,” noted Yury Shalabayev.
The Perm delegation presented key public spaces and comprehensive urban development projects. They shared their experience in developing the Kama River embankment, which, following the opening of a new section in the Motovilikha District, has become one of the longest embankments in Russia. The delegation also introduced the “Green Ring” project, a large-scale initiative focused on the revitalization and improvement of small river valleys and the Chernyaevsky Forest.
“The most valuable outcome of such visits is the opportunity to exchange practical experience in the implementation of various programmes. Municipalities face similar challenges: we are at the forefront of engagement with our residents, and all of us are committed to improving urban environments and ensuring high standards of public amenities. While each city adopts its own approach, we all possess valuable practices that we are pleased to share with our colleagues,” said Eduard Sosnin during the working meeting.
Perm’s industrial and tourism potential was also presented to the business community of Nizhny Novgorod. In cooperation with the regional branch of Delovaya Rossiya, an open dialogue was held with local entrepreneurs. It was noted that Perm’s enterprises attract considerable interest from partners in other regions, not only in terms of cooperation, but also in the development of industrial and business tourism. This work is being carried out in close collaboration with the Government of Perm Krai, which defines the strategic direction of the region’s economic development.
In addition, current areas of cooperation with PJSC Sberbank were discussed. As part of an agreement concluded last year, installations featuring characters from Soviet animated films were introduced in Balatovo Park, and ten unique bear sculptures were placed along the Kama River embankment. This line of cooperation will be further developed.
