Perm Puppet Theatre Honored at International Festival

A total of 17 performances from seven countries were presented at the cultural event.

According to the Perm Department of Culture and Youth Policy, the 8th International Festival of Puppet Theatres “Visiting Arlekino” concluded in Omsk on May 19. The Perm Puppet Theatre recieved a prize in the “Festival Innovation” nomination for its performance “Kama. Gort. Legends” (18+), inspired by mythology and rituals of the peoples of the Perm Krai.

The open-air production “Kama. Gort. Legends” reinterprets the folklore of the people of the Perm Krai. The creators conducted extensive work with the region’s cultural heritage, ranging from studying myths to incorporating traditional costume design elements.

The production has been included in the list of recognised by the Russian National Theatre Award “Golden Mask” as one of the most notable performances. In Perm, “Kama. Gort. Legends” is scheduled to be performed on June 20 in the inner courtyard of the Puppet Theatre. Tickets for the performance are available through the Pushkin Card.
